About the Position

Namati is seeking a part-time Office Assistant to provide administrative support to the Finance and Operations teams in our Washington DC office.

This position will afford unique exposure to the behind-the-scenes workings of an international non-profit organization.

Here are some examples of tasks the office assistant might have tackled last week:

  • Worked closely with the Accounting Manager to streamline Namati’s financial processes: scanning documents, sorting and filing originals, ensuring our record system is error-free and up to date.
  • Retrieved documents and files when requested.
  • Organized the DC office collection of books and publications by theme, region, and practice, to help staff easily locate hard copy resources.
  • Compiled an updated list of official recognized holidays in the different countries where we work so they can be reflected in our internal staff calendar.
  • Conducted an office supplies audit, and worked with the operations team to place an order on Amazon for post-its, paper towels, and notebooks.
  • Collected the mail and distributed it to relevant members in the office.

  • You delight in organization and enjoy bringing order to every aspect of your work: whether it’s cleaning up a messy supply cabinet, or brainstorming a better way to keep track of office inventory.
  • You feel at ease working with technology, and you don’t shy away from getting to the bottom of a pesky tech issue that’s been holding people up.
  • You bring enthusiasm and passion to every task recognizing that operational and financial support are crucial in fulfilling an organization’s mission.

Compensation and structure

This is a part-time (15-20 hours per week) position, compensated hourly at DC minimum wage. We require a minimum commitment of 12 weeks. Please let us know in your application if you're applying as a Federal Work-Study student with a FWS award.
